Retrofitting Services

Genesis Telecom Solutions offers specialized Retrofitting services that modernize legacy telecom hardware by replacing high-failure components with reliable, state-of-the-art alternatives. Our retrofitting solutions help clients extend the life of their equipment, improve performance, and reduce costly downtimes associated with outdated components.

Extend the Life of Legacy Hardware with Modern Technology

Legacy components such as SCSI disk drives and tape drives often present a risk due to high failure rates, which can lead to service disruptions. Our retrofitting service replaces these outdated parts with modern, durable components—such as solid-state drives (SSDs)—significantly enhancing the reliability and longevity of your telecom hardware.

Benefits of Retrofitting with Genesis

  • Improved Performance and Reliability
Modern components offer superior speed, durability, and reliability, reducing the risk of failure and improving the overall performance of your legacy hardware.

  • Cost-Effective Upgrades
Retrofitting is a cost-effective way to enhance your existing equipment without the need for complete system replacements, allowing you to maximize the return on your original investment.

  • Extended Equipment Lifespan
By replacing outdated components with modern parts, we extend the operational life of your hardware, delaying the need for costly upgrades or replacements.

Advanced Capabilities in Reverse Engineering and Redesign

In addition to component replacement, we have the capability to reverse engineer and redesign circuit boards using advanced tools and techniques. This allows us to modernize even the most complex hardware, adapting legacy systems to integrate seamlessly with newer technologies. Our reverse engineering capabilities ensure that your equipment remains compatible and operational long into the future.

Our Retrofitting Process

  1. Assessment
We begin by evaluating your equipment to identify high-failure components and determine the best modernization solutions for your needs.

  2. Component Replacement
Our technicians carefully remove legacy components—such as SCSI disk drives or tape drives—and replace them with modern, compatible alternatives like SSDs.

  3. Redesign & Reverse Engineering
For systems requiring a deeper level of modernization, we reverse engineer and redesign circuit boards, ensuring optimal performance and integration with new components.

  4. Testing & Quality Assurance
After retrofitting, each unit undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it meets our quality standards and delivers improved performance and reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does your company provide a warranty on hardware sales & repairs?

We offer a bumper-to-bumper warranty on all equipment sales & repairs. The length of the warranty varies depending on the customer’s needs; however, our standard is 1 year.

What is a bumper-to-bumper warranty?
The warranty covers the entire board and is not specific to the component being replaced. For example, if we replace an optical transceiver, and the board fails within the warranty period, and the problem is with a different component, then it is still covered under warranty.
Do you test the hardware you sell?
We have in-house test and repair capability covering thousands of part numbers. The hardware we sell is closely correlated with our test capabilities, so we test much of the hardware we sell.
What is your turnaround time on repairs & hardware sales

Our average turnaround time on repairs is 16 business days & 1 day for hardware sales

Do you offer a testing-only service?

Yes, our average turnaround is 3 days

I need a part number that has a particular firmware or software release. Can you provide that?
We have the capability in-house to check firmware and software and copy/program the boards in most cases, so there is a good chance we can meet your needs, however, if would be on a part-by-part basis.
Do you carry out 100% of repairs in-house or do you outsource some?

We have the in-house capability to replace any type of component including ball grid array parts. We also have deep capabilities around fiber optical component replacement which includes PMD fiber, so we carry out all repairs in-house.

What courier delivery options do you offer?

We have accounts with UPS, FedEx, and DHL

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, Paypal, ACH, and wire transfers. We can offer net terms to repeat customers with business references.
